Trust the Lord

1   You rulers of this earth should love justice; you should do what is right and keep the Lord in mind.

2 The Lord will answer your prayers, if you trust and don't doubt.

3 Our deceitful thoughts separate us from God, and by putting God to the test, we make fools of ourselves, 4 because Wisdom won't live with deceitful slaves of sin.

5 A pure mind and self-control won't let you be deceitful; you will reject foolish thoughts and hate injustice.

Our Words and Thoughts Are Known to God 

6 Although Wisdom is friendly, she will still hold you guilty if you speak evil of God.

Even words spoken in secret and our most private thoughts are known to God, 7 because the Spirit of the Lord is everywhere in this world.

His Spirit holds it all together and hears every word.

8 And so liars will be judged and then punished — 9 their evil plans and deeds will be discovered, then reported to the Lord, and they will be sentenced.

10 Nothing can escape being heard, not even a faint grumble.

11 So stop all useless complaining and fault-finding. 

Even a faint whisper can cause a problem, and lies are deadly.

God Created Us To Live

12 Don't invite death and destruction by living like a fool.

13 God did not create us for death, and when we die, it doesn't make him glad.

14 God created all creatureswith life that continues.

All living beings should keep on living untouched by deadly poison, because the Kingdom of Death doesn't rule this world, 15 and justice lives forever.

Evil Thoughts of Evil People

16 The words and deeds of evil people are an invitation to death.

They think of death as friendly and desirable — they are partners with death, just as they deserve.

1 If you are thirsty, come and drink water!

If you don't have any money, come, eat what you want! Drink wine and milk without paying a cent.

God's Words Are Powerful

6 Turn to the Lord!

He can still be found. Call out to God! He is near.

7 Give up your evil ways and your evil thoughts. Return to the Lord our God.

He will be merciful and forgive your sins.

8 The Lord says:

“My thoughts and my ways are not like yours. 

9 Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, my thoughts and my ways are higher than yours.

10 “Rain and snow fall from the sky. But they don't return without watering the earth that produces seeds to plant and grain to eat.

11 That's how it is with my words.

They don't return to me without doing everything I send them to do.”

God's People Will Celebrate

12 When you are set free, you will celebrate and travel home in peace.

Mountains and hills will sing as you pass by, and trees will clap.

13 Cypress and myrtle trees will grow in fields once covered by thorns.

And then those trees will stand as a lasting witness to the glory of the Lord.

Deus oferece salvação a todos

1 O Senhor Deus diz: “Escutem, os que têm sede: venham beber água!

Venham, os que não têm dinheiro: comprem comida e comam!

Venham e comprem leite e vinho, que tudo é de graça.

2 Por que vocês gastam dinheiro com o que não é comida?

Por que gastam o seu salário com coisas que não matam a fome?

Se ouvirem e fizerem o que eu ordeno, vocês comerão do melhor alimento, terão comidas gostosas.

3 Escutem-me e venham a mim, prestem atenção e terão vida nova.

Eu farei uma aliança eterna com vocês e lhes darei as bênçãos que prometi a Davi.

4 Eu fiz Davi chefe e líder dos povos, e por meio dele viram o meu poder.

5 E agora vocês darão ordens a povos estrangeiros, povos que vocês não conheciam, e eles virão correndo para obedecer-lhes.

Isso acontecerá porque eu, o Senhor, seu Deus, o Santo Deus de Israel, tenho dado poder e honra a vocês.”

6 Procurem a ajuda de Deus enquanto podem achá-lo; orem ao Senhor enquanto ele está perto.

7 Que as pessoas perversas mudem a sua maneira de viver e abandonem os seus maus pensamentos!

Voltem para o Senhor, nosso Deus, pois ele tem compaixão e perdoa completamente.

8 O Senhor Deus diz:

“Os meus pensamentos não são como os seus pensamentos, e eu não ajo como vocês.

9 Assim como o céu está muito acima da terra, assim os meus pensamentos e as minhas ações estão muito acima dos seus.

10 A chuva e a neve caem do céu e não voltam até que tenham regado a terra, fazendo as plantas brotarem, crescerem e produzirem sementes para serem plantadas e darem alimento para as pessoas.

11 Assim também é a minha palavra: ela não volta para mim sem nada, mas faz o que me agrada fazer e realiza tudo o que eu prometo.

12 “Vocês sairão alegres da Babilônia, serão guiados em paz para a sua terra.

As montanhas e os morros cantarão de alegria; todas as árvores baterão palmas.

13 Onde agora só há espinheiros crescerão ciprestes, murtas aparecerão onde agora só cresce o mato. Isso será para vocês uma testemunha daquilo que eu fiz, será um sinal eterno, que nunca desaparecerá.”

Honor the Lord

1  I will always praise the Lord.

2 With all my heart, I will praise the Lord. Let all who are helpless, listen and be glad.

21 Wicked people are killed by their own evil deeds, and if you hate God's people you will be punished.

22 The Lord saves the lives of his servants.

Run to him for protection, and you won't be punished.

A bondade de Deus

Na presença do rei Abimeleque, Davi fingiu que estava louco, e por isso Abimeleque o mandou embora. Depois de sair, Davi escreveu este salmo.

1 Eu sempre darei graças a Deus, o Senhor; o seu louvor estará nos meus lábios o dia inteiro.

2 Eu o louvarei por causa das coisas que ele tem feito; os que são perseguidos ouvirão isso e se alegrarão.

3 Anunciem comigo a sua grandeza; louvemos juntos o Senhor.

4 Eu pedi a ajuda do Senhor, e ele me respondeu; ele me livrou de todos os meus medos.

5 Os que são perseguidos olham para ele e se alegram; eles nunca ficarão desapontados.

6 Eu, um pobre sofredor, gritei; o Senhor me ouviu e me livrou das minhas aflições.

7 O Anjo do Senhor fica em volta daqueles que o temem e os protege do perigo.

8 Procure descobrir, por você mesmo, como o Senhor Deus é bom. Feliz aquele que encontra segurança nele!

9 Que todos os que se dedicam a Deus o temam, pois aqueles que o temem não têm falta de nada!

10 Até os leões não têm comida e passam fome, porém não falta nada aos que procuram a ajuda do Senhor.

11 Venham, meus jovens amigos, e escutem, que eu os ensinarei a temer a Deus, o Senhor.

12 Vocês querem aproveitar a vida? Querem viver muito e ser felizes?

13 Então procurem não dizer coisas más e não contem mentiras.

14 Afastem-se do mal e façam o bem; procurem a paz e façam tudo para alcançá-la.

15 Deus cuida das pessoas honestas e ouve os seus pedidos.

16 Mas ele é contra os que fazem o mal; e assim, quando morrem, eles são logo esquecidos.

17 Quando as pessoas honestas chamam o Senhor, ele as ouve e as livra de todas as suas aflições.

18 Ele fica perto dos que estão desanimados e salva os que perderam a esperança.

19 Os bons passam por muitas aflições, mas o Senhor os livra de todas elas.

20 Ele os protege completamente; nenhum dos seus ossos é quebrado.

21 Os maus serão mortos por causa das suas maldades; aqueles que odeiam os bons serão castigados.

22 O Senhor Deus salva a vida dos seus servos; aqueles que procuram a sua proteção não serão condenados.
